Second stage today!
Unlike yesterday, I left quite early from Ospedaletto Lodigiano to Parma.
The first part led me to visit both the hinterland of Lodi and the province of Piacenza, including the capital.
After 20 km of paved and unpaved road, between huge wheat fields, and only after I got through small villages like Orio Litta and San Rocco al Porto, I arrived in Piacenza.
It was not easy: the strong headwind kept me company for the whole ride.
Also today I recommend the use of GPS; the road is not difficult but you could easily lose the compass.
The first stop of the day coincided with the lunch break.
Visiting the historic center, I came across a nice little restaurant not far from the Duomo: the Osteria Carducci.
To get my strength back, I tasted a typical local dish: pisarei e fasò, or gnocchi made of flour and breadcrumbs with beans (a good “pasta e fasul” in Padula style).
After I had my fill of energy, following stages 17 and 18 of the Via Francigena, I easily reached and passed Fidenza to get to Parma.
Here, after 106 km, at the Parco Ducale, I was welcomed by my friends Francesco, Balo and Denis with whom I will spend this evening in Parma!
Today we reached € 5932! Thank you all for your support, you’re the best part of this trip!
Tomorrow I will observe a day of rest in view of the next slightly more difficult stages.
This day will help me recharge my batteries and start again stronger than before!
